Keith Arnatt

€180,00

For the first time, Keith Arnatt's celebrated Pictures from a Rubbish Tip is presented in 41 plates. MÖREL worked carefully with the Keith Arnatt estate to scan the 20 x 25 cm (8 x 10 in) C-type prints that Arnatt hand-printed in the 1980s.

The series, made at rubbish tips around Keith Arnatt's home in the 1980s, shows decomposing bread, flowers, cake, meat, vegetables and spaghetti, some still in their plastic wrappers, photographed up close in rich, sumptuous colour.

Treated like still lifes, the pictures show the waste and excess of modern consumption, finding both beauty and decay in what has been thrown away. The photographs themselves become the artwork.

Keith Arnatt (1930–2008) emerged in the 1960s as a key figure in British conceptual art and photography. The series has been shown at the Photographers' Gallery and Tate Britain in London, and at Sprüth Magers.
